Eden Research plc employs Dr Smart as consultant
Further to our announcement on 16 February 2005 regarding Dr Richard Smart endorsing the development by Eden Research of terpene vineyard fungicide, we are pleased to announce that Dr Smart has agreed to work as a consultant (through his company Smart Viticulture) for Eden Research plc. Dr Smart will be advising Eden Research on research projects across the globe.
Dr Smart has started to conduct a series of late season Botrytis trials using Eden Research’s encapsulated product on several varieties of grapes in sites in Tasmania. Botrytis is a fungal infection, therefore the treatment is applied directly to the leaf rather than through the root system. This means that meaningful efficacy and technical data from these late season trials should be available during 2005. Following this, the data will be compared to results of the full season (2005/2006) trials at Southcorp and to results from other trials currently being carried out worldwide and other trials anticipated to commence.

Dr Richard Smart
Richard Smart, one of the world’s best qualified viticulturists, has spent his career as both an academic and consultant in vineyards. He has received many awards over his career, including most recently in November 2004 ‘International Wine Personality of the Year for Innovation’, by leading UK Wine International magazine.
At present Dr Smart is Managing Director of Smart Viticulture, an international vineyard consulting business founded in 1991. Smart Viticulture has consulted over 200 clients in 22 different countries.
