Southcorp agrees encapsulated Terpene trials with Eden
Based in Sydney, Australia, Southcorp is one of the top 100 companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange with revenues last year of AUD$1.2 billion and sales of 20 million cases of wine. The company has built up an unrivalled portfolio of more than 20 wine brands, including Penfolds, Rosemount Estate, Lindemans, Wynns, Coonawarra Estate and Seppelt.
Southcorp Wines has a vineyard portfolio that includes over 8,000 ha with holdings in the majority of the wine districts in Australia.
Southcorp works with a range of companies and research organisations to identify opportunities to improve management practices to ensure production to wine quality specification and increase vineyard profitability.
Southcorp is currently working in collaboration with Eden Research in vineyard evaluation of the application of encapsulated terpenes to control fungal infections. Southcorp sees an opportunity to reduce chemical inputs whilst producing grapes unaffected by fungal diseases, for both organic and more particularly conventionally managed vineyards
