AGM Statement
Eden Research plc, a leading UK agrochemical development company, has held Annual General Meeting today at which all resolutions were duly passed. Over the last 12 months Eden has made significant progress in a number of areas.
The excellent trial performance of 3AEY, our lead fungicide (Botrytis control) treatment, resulted in us concluding a major manufacturing and distribution agreement for Western Europe and the USA with Cheminova A/S the Danish multinational. This agreement compliments the company's existing partnerships with Redestos SA in Greece and the Balkans, Zagro PTE in SE Asia, and Xeda International SA in the post-harvest sector.
Cheminova's involvement since April 2007 has accelerated our pan-European efficacy testing effort, with expanded programmes taking place this year, involving for the first time, France, Germany and Italy, to compliment the efficacy data already available from Greece, Spain and Portugal.
Discussions are ongoing with existing, and new potential partners for further commercial agreements in major markets including Australasia, Africa, Latin America and Central and East Asia regions. We can also report that existing partners are currently negotiating for the rights to further territories.
Regulatory approval of 3AEY is making excellent progress, with compilation of a pan-European dossier for three of our active ingredients, and the 3AEY formulation nearing completion with no sign of any safety issues.
Our confidence in the fungicidal activity and the price competitiveness of 3AEY has prompted us to begin a wider fungal screening exercise. Efficacy testing for control of a range of diseases on three further major crops (Wheat, Soyabean, and Oil Seed Rape) is now in progress with results expected from autumn 2007 onwards.
Control by a range of terpene combinations against nematodes in 2006 led to the first crop trials to test against this family of soil pests. Initial results are again encouraging.
The bactericidal activity of our formulations is showing increasing promise against both plant diseases and veterinary targets.
Eden's laboratory facility in the USA has continued to develop new products, with new co-formulations offering valuable and unique product enhancement technology together with new intellectual property. Laboratory & field testing of these new products in UK and Australia is in progress.
