John Edmonds
R&D Manager

John completed his BSc in Applied Biology in 1989 and has held various roles in R&D / product development working for Cyanamid, Rohm and Haas and latterly Dow AgroSciences where he was responsible for both Global and European product development for a range of fungicides in Potatoes as well as herbicide, fungicide and insecticide development in Cereals, Oilseed Rape and various Horticultural crops in both the UK and Europe.

This gave him great experience in the detailed processes of developing products in a range of arable and horticultural crops from early stage through to registration, including managing development programmes, dossier preparation, working with external contractors and influencers and commercial technical support.

Gary Ostroff PhD

Gary is a microbiologist with over 20 years of research and development (R&D) experience in the biopharmaceutical, functional food and dietary supplement industries. He has served as Vice President of R&D for several US companies, including Biopolymer Engineering Inc, Amerifit Nutrition Inc and Alpha-Beta Technology.

A Professor at both the Worcester Polytechnic University and the University of Massachusetts at Worcester, Massachusetts, Gary's scientific accomplishments encompass the development of carbohydrate and protein therapeutics, diagnostics, target discovery, assay development and small molecule drug screening from discovery through Phase III clinical studies.

His development of Eden's terpene-encapsulation system has been invaluable in improving the efficacy of our products.

Richard Smart PhD

Richard is one of the world's most experienced viticulturists. Based in Australia, he has spent his career as an academic and consultant in vineyards, and is known internationally as 'The Flying Vine-doctor'.

He is the recipient of many awards during his career, including most recently 'International Wine Personality of the Year 2004 - for Innovation', awarded by the UK's leading Wine International magazine. In addition to his work with Eden, Richard is Managing Director of Smart Viticulture, an international vineyard consulting business founded in 1991. Smart Viticulture has provided consultancy services to over 200 clients in 22 different countries.

Chung-Jan (CJ) Chang PhD

CJ is Professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Georgia (USA) and offers more than 20 years of experience in research, teaching and agricultural consultancy.

A frequent lecturer at professional meetings throughout the world, CJ appeared as a blue ribbon panellist at a 2002 international symposium entitled, "Pierce's disease and the glassy-winged sharpshooter in California: reviewing critical research". He has also served as a reviewer for many scientific journals and for granting agencies such as the US Department of Agriculture.

Paul Williams PhD

Paul is Professor of Molecular Microbiology at the University of Nottingham (UK) and Director of the university's Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation at the Queen's Medical Centre.

His current research focuses on identifying new targets for novel anti-infective agents and candidate vaccine antigens. He has published over 100 research papers, reviews and book chapters, as well as six patents published or pending. Paul has served on the editorial boards of several microbiology journals and is a member of the UK's Society for General Microbiology Infection Group, the Plant and Microbes Committee of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, and the Medical Research Council advisory board.
