Eden Research plc (AIM: EDEN), the AIM-listed company that provides breakthrough natural microencapsulation technologies to the global agrochemicals, animal health and consumer products industries, announces that its first agrochemical product, 3AEY, a fungicide that primarily targets botrytis on grapes, has been approved for commercial sale and use in Bulgaria. Bulgaria is in the top 20 wine producing countries globally, and wine grapes make up the vast majority of Bulgarian production.

As part of the regulatory process in the EU, several years' worth of product efficacy trials were conducted in order to generate the data required to support the label claims of botrytis prevention and control in table and wine grapes. As well as proving disease control, other studies such as taint and vinification have also been conducted to prove the product has no negative quality effects on table grapes or when used to produce wine. Eden's 3AEY is considered by the regulatory authority to give a similar level of control to existing commercial chemical fungicides. Furthermore, the active ingredients for Eden's product have been granted an exemption from maximum residue levels in the EU thereby giving growers maximum flexibility in their crop protection programmes.

3AEY was granted authorisation by the zonal Rapporteur Member State, Malta, in May 2015 for the prevention and cure of botrytis in table and wine grapes. This was followed by authorisation in Greece in September 2015. These authorisations pave the way for commercialisation in each country. Eden's commercialisation partners such as Redestos, Sipcam and Sumi Agro France are now preparing for product launches following authorisation.

Eden Research plc (AIM: EDEN), the AIM-listed company that provides breakthrough natural microencapsulation technologies to the global agrochemicals, animal health and consumer products industries, announces that its partner, Lachlan Kenya Limited, has received approval to commence sales of 3AEY in Kenya (where it will be sold under the trade name Hawk®). 3AEY is a fungicide formulated from plant-derived actives and a natural microencapsulation system that primarily targets Botrytis on various edible and inedible crops.

The approval allows Lachlan to sell 3AEY into markets in Kenya through its distribution network. Lachlan will initially be targeting the treatment of peas, beans and cucurbits (i.e. the plant family which includes cucumbers, squashes, pumpkins, courgettes and various melons) before expanding into the cut flower market for export to Europe and further afield. Kenya exports over $500 million of cut flowers each year with over 125,000 tonnes of products shipped and flown around the world, with a significant amount going to the major supermarkets in the EU.

Under the existing licence agreement between Eden and Lachlan, Eden is now due a milestone payment and will receive royalties based on net sales of 3AEY. Eden will also supply Lachlan with 3AEY from the UK using its network of toll manufacturers and suppliers and has received an initial order to provide enough 3AEY to treat an area of approximately 1,667 hectares.

Eden Research Plc (AIM: EDEN), the AIM-listed natural micro-encapsulation company, announces that it has signed an exclusive licence agreement ("Agreement") with TerpeneTech Limited ("TerpeneTech") granting TerpeneTech the rights to use Eden's technologies and intellectual property ("IP") in the field of 'over the counter' head lice treatments.

In consideration for this Agreement, TerpeneTech has paid Eden an up-front fee of £0.6m for the licensed rights and will pay royalties on the sale of products. In addition to the Agreement, Eden has taken a 29.9% stake in TerpeneTech for £0.92m, through the issue of4,615,385 million new Eden shares at 20p per share ("Investment").

The global market for head lice is valued at around USD$700m at the retail level and is generally seen as lacking in products that are particularly efficacious with most products relying on synthetic actives and/or devices such as nit combs for the challenging and unpleasant removal of the lice and their eggs. TerpeneTech has developed a head-lice product using Eden's GO-E™ encapsulation system and low-risk active ingredients. Based on recently concluded field trials, TerpeneTech's products deliver a high-level of efficacy in the direct treatment of head lice and their eggs. TerpeneTech is currently undertaking further human trials and product development in conjunction with leading scientific advisors and potential distribution partners.

Over the past four years TerpeneTech has developed a number of products using Eden's GO-E™ encapsulation system and IP, some of which now form the basis for products in areas outside of the biocides sector, for which TerpeneTech already has the exclusive rights from Eden for certain applications.

Given the progress that TerpeneTech is making and in order for Eden to take a bigger share of the potential future value that will be derived from this relationship, it was agreed that Eden should now take a strategic stake in TerpeneTech. In addition to the Investment made, Eden has the right to appoint a director to the Board of TerpeneTech and it shall do so in due course.

As part of the plan to enter into this agreement with TerpeneTech, the existing agreement with Neo-Pharma Innovations Limited, who held the rights to Eden's patented, unencapsulated head lice product formulations, has been terminated.

In accordance with the Disclosure and Transparency Rules (DTR 5.6.1R) the Company hereby notifies the market that immediately following Admission its issued share capital will consist of 158,758,265 Ordinary Shares of 1 pence each. Eden Research Plc (AIM: EDEN), the AIM-listed natural micro-encapsulation company, announces that it has received notice that the three active ingredients, which form part of multiple plant protection products developed by Eden, have been granted approval for inclusion in Annex IV to Regulation (EC) Number 396/2005, subject to the provision of confirmatory data.

Geraniol and thymol are now exempt from the maximum residue levels ("MRLs") set for many pesticides. This translates into a clear benefit for growers when considering treatment programmes, as Eden's products can now be used without regard to concern for residues, thus allowing growers to protect their crops right up to the point of harvest. Eugenol has previously been granted provisional approval for inclusion in Annex IV.

Eden's Chief Executive, Sean Smith, stated: "Eden and its licensees have long been aware of the potential for our naturally-derived pesticide products to deliver additional benefits to growers through their use late in the season, thereby protecting crops at a critical time and allowing maximum produce quality. Now the European Commission has helped growers to fully realise these additional benefits by granting products containing our core actives an exemption from maximum residue levels. Grape growers, for example, will no longer need to balance their desire to select an optimal harvest time to increase produce quality and sugar levels with the requirement to adhere to maximum residue levels for their late-season fungicidal treatment. This translates into a benefit for growers and our commercialisation partners, and it strengthens the overall value of Eden's product offerings."

Eden's first product, 3AEY, was recently granted authorisation by the zonal Rapporteur Member State, Malta for the prevention and cure of botrytis in table and wine grapes. Following this authorisation, the concerned Member States in the Southern regulatory zone have 120 days to issue their national authorisations, thereby allowing sales in key grape growing countries, including three of the top five global grape producers. Eden's commercialisation partners such as Sipcam, Redestos and Sumi Agro France are now preparing for product launches following authorisation.

Eden Research Plc (AIM: EDEN), the AIM-listed natural micro-encapsulation company, will hold its Annual General Meeting today at 12pm at The Four Pillars Hotel, Ducklington Lane, Witney, OX28 4EX.

Following the formal proceedings of the meeting the Chairman, Tom Lupton, will make the following statement:

I am delighted to report that since the publication of the 2014 Annual Report and Accounts we have been able to announce the EU approval of our first agrochemical product, 3AEY.

Our shareholders know that the process that we have gone through to achieve this key milestone has been lengthy and not without issue and, as such, is a momentous achievement for the Company. The EU has one of the toughest regulatory regimes in the world and one of the very few that requires manufacturers to demonstrate product efficacy in addition to safety.

The EU approval paves the way for sales in France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal and the Balkans, a list that includes three of the top five grape producing countries worldwide.

The potential for sales of 3AEY through our existing licensees (Sumi-Agro France, Sipcam and Redestos) is significant in Europe alone, but the opportunity is even more valuable when markets outside of the EU, such as the US and South America, are considered and we are making progress in arranging commercial terms with new licensees in these regions.

The approval of 3AEY also provides comfort to our other partners, such as Eastman who have the exclusive option on our nematicide product, that our safe, effective and commercially viable products meet the high standards set by the EU regulatory process.

Moving forward, we expect to see further agrochemical products being developed and commercialised for use in a wider range of crops; to further develop co-encapsulation using existing actives substances with our GO-E technology; to see product sales in the animal health sector through our licensee, Bayer Animal Health; to enter into agreements in other areas such as food ingredients and flavourings, cosmetics, nutraceuticals and human health.

We believe we are well placed to realise the commercial potential of our technology.

After twenty years of service with Eden, we are saying goodbye to Ken Brooks, Non-executive Director, who has stepped down from the Board today. Ken has been instrumental in the running of the Company and has provided invaluable support and advice over the years which has helped Eden to become what it is today. We are very grateful to him and wish him well for the future.

Over the last year we have strengthened our management team with the appointment of Sean Smith as CEO, and we are delighted to have Rob Cridland join the Board as Non-executive Director. We intend to strengthen our team further over the next year.
