Eden Research plc (AIM: EDEN), the AIM-listed company that provides breakthrough natural microencapsulation technologies to the global agrochemicals, animal health and consumer products industries, announces that it has raised £2.6 million, before expenses, through a placing with new and existing institutional shareholders by Shore Capital Stockbrokers Limited ("Shore Capital") of 25,365,854 new ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company (the "Placing Shares") at a price of 10.25p each ("the Placing").

The Company intends to use the proceeds of the Placing, inter alia, to:

• Register new products and increase the global reach of existing Eden products
• Commence new R&D trials in both plant protection products and personal care applications
• Pursue commercialisation of animal health products outside of the United States
• Expand business and brand development activities

The Placing Shares will rank pari passu in all respects with the Company's existing ordinary shares of 1 pence each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares") and will represent 13.7% of the Company's enlarged issued share capital. Application has been made for the Placing Shares to be admitted to AIM and it is expected that admission will take place and trading in the Placing Shares will commence from 8.00 a.m. on 1 April 2016 ("Admission").

In connection with the Placing, Shore Capital, the Company and its directors have entered into a placing agreement pursuant to which Shore Capital has agreed conditionally to use its reasonable endeavours to place the Placing Shares at the Placing Price. The Placing (which is not underwritten) is conditional, inter alia, on the Placing Agreement becoming unconditional in all respects and not having been terminated in accordance with its terms and Admission.

As part of their placing participation of 19,512,195 Placing Shares (amounting to approximately £2 million at the Placing Price and representing 10.6 per cent. of the enlarged share capital), Livingbridge VC LLP has been granted the right to appoint a director to the board of the Company for as long as it retains a minimum interest of five per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.

Following Admission, the Company's total issued and voting share capital will comprise 184,654,119 Ordinary Shares. This figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, securities of the Company.

This is another significant milestone for Eden which allows the Company to access the third largest wine producer in the world. 3AEY has already been authorised for sale in Kenya, Malta, Greece, Bulgaria and most recently Italy, increasing the geographic footprint of sales in the 2016 growing season. 3AEY is a terpene-based fungicide that specifically targets Botrytis, a widespread fungal disease that causes grey mould on many fruits and vegetables leading to the rapid loss of commercially valuable crops. Botrytis can destroy as much as 30% of a vineyard in a matter of days if vines are left untreated.

This is a significant and long-awaited milestone for the Company and will allow Sipcam to sell 3LOGY to its established customers. 3LOGY is a terpene-based fungicide that can treat and prevent botrytis. Botrytis is a widespread fungal disease that causes grey mould on many fruits and vegetables leading to the rapid loss of commercially valuable crops. The average losses from affected crops account for around 20% of the total harvest, costing producers between €10-100 billion annually worldwide, depending upon weather conditions. The market for Botryticides alone is approximately $300m per annum.

Eden Research plc (AIM: EDEN), the AIM-listed company that provides breakthrough natural microencapsulation technologies to the global agrochemicals, animal health and consumer products industries, announces that its partner, K&N Efthymiadis (KNE), part of the Redestos Group, has placed its first order for Mevalone™ for the prevention and cure of botrytis on table and wine grapes in Greece. Mevalone is the trade name used in several countries for Eden's fungicidal agrochemical product, 3AEY, and this order follows the national approval for commercial sale in Greece received in August 2015.

Plans are also underway in Greece to submit label extensions to allow the use of Mevalone across a wider range of crops in which the fungal disease botrytis is a problem, such as kiwi, aubergine, green onion and pomegranate. Label extensions can be achieved with a much shorter regulatory timetable and are expected to be received in 2016. These will help KNE realise greater penetration of the larger Greek fungicide market with Mevalone.

Under the existing agreement between Eden and Redestos Group, Eden will receive royalties based on net sales of Mevalone. Eden will also supply KNE with Mevalone from its network of toll manufacturers and suppliers.

Bulgaria is in the top 20 wine producing countries globally, and wine grapes make up the vast majority of Bulgarian production.

As part of the regulatory process in the EU, several years' worth of product efficacy trials were conducted in order to generate the data required to support the label claims of botrytis prevention and control in table and wine grapes. As well as proving disease control, other studies such as taint and vinification have also been conducted to prove the product has no negative quality effects on table grapes or when used to produce wine. Eden's 3AEY is considered by the regulatory authority to give a similar level of control to existing commercial chemical fungicides. Furthermore, the active ingredients for Eden's product have been granted an exemption from maximum residue levels in the EU thereby giving growers maximum flexibility in their crop protection programmes.

3AEY was granted authorisation by the zonal Rapporteur Member State, Malta, in May 2015 for the prevention and cure of botrytis in table and wine grapes. This was followed by authorisation in Greece in September 2015. These authorisations pave the way for commercialisation in each country. Eden's commercialisation partners such as Redestos, Sipcam and Sumi Agro France are now preparing for product launches following authorisation.

Eden Research plc (AIM: EDEN), the AIM-listed company that provides breakthrough natural microencapsulation technologies to the global agrochemicals, animal health and consumer products industries, announces that its partner, Lachlan Kenya Limited, has received approval to commence sales of 3AEY in Kenya (where it will be sold under the trade name Hawk®). 3AEY is a fungicide formulated from plant-derived actives and a natural microencapsulation system that primarily targets Botrytis on various edible and inedible crops.

The approval allows Lachlan to sell 3AEY into markets in Kenya through its distribution network. Lachlan will initially be targeting the treatment of peas, beans and cucurbits (i.e. the plant family which includes cucumbers, squashes, pumpkins, courgettes and various melons) before expanding into the cut flower market for export to Europe and further afield. Kenya exports over $500 million of cut flowers each year with over 125,000 tonnes of products shipped and flown around the world, with a significant amount going to the major supermarkets in the EU.

Under the existing licence agreement between Eden and Lachlan, Eden is now due a milestone payment and will receive royalties based on net sales of 3AEY. Eden will also supply Lachlan with 3AEY from the UK using its network of toll manufacturers and suppliers and has received an initial order to provide enough 3AEY to treat an area of approximately 1,667 hectares.
